Shin Ramyun...Kimchi Ramen

Dang! I am hooked on this stuff. Spicy and salty and surely unhealthy. It will burn your lips in a most fabulous way! I bought a "family pack" last time and I'm trying to go easy, but it is hard.

Had one of these puffed rice cakes at work yesterday and now I'm going to have to go out and buy a bag, they were so good! They were fetched by Erin from the Bankok market down the street. Thanks, girl! There is a drizzle of sweet stuff on top, but it's not sweet like eating a rice crispy treat sweet. Don't get me going on rice crispy treats, except I will say that I once knew a girl who put red hots in hers. I have found that this spot has the best sweet puffy rice cakes

SODA

Galco's has an amazing array of soda, beer, wine and old-timey candy. Walking in is a bit like stepping back in time...www.sodapopstop.com/home.cfm

Tamarindo

Ahh, sweet tamarind. Being a country mouse, this is something I never experienced until I moved to San Francisco and had access to Mexican snacks. The first time I tasted tamarind it was in the form of a sticky pulp formed onto a long stick and rolled in sugar. YES! I gnawed on that thing like there was no tomorrow. After that I branched out into other tamarindo snacks: Jarritos, popsicles, aqua frescas. All of the above ruled me. To this day I don't think there's anything quite as refreshing as a tamarind popsicle...tart, sweet and brown.

Kola Champagne

According to my shoddy web research this soda was created by a Puerto Rican soldier by the name of Angel Rivero Mendez. It has the taste of liquid candy and I love it. I've never had the original, but the brand "Ginseng Up" makes a Kola Champagne flavor. If you are a cream soda or Big Red person, this could be a good fit for you.

Choco-Pieeeeeeeeeee!

My eyes cross when I think of these. I buy a box and suddenly they are gone. Delicious in a purely artificial way! Can be easily tucked into a bag or purse or hidden in a file cabinet at work if you're so inclined.

Orange and Creme

This shit is my jam!!

Empanadas

Feeling blue? An empanada can turn the day around. Gooey cheese and a nice salsa for dunking... nothing finer. There was a lady who used to come around my old job in San Francisco with a big basket of them. Her's were typically beef, or cheese and chili and usually still warm!! I'm going to look into some recipes and post them here as well. I like 'em fried and from this Chilean spot by work. Wash it down with an Inca Cola. Ahhhhhh.....

Seaweed

Roasty, crunchy and salty. Was turned onto this by a roommate and now I can't get enough of the stuff! I cut it up into strips, put it in a bowl and go crazy. It's amazing how fast you can tear through a couple of sheets. Such an easy and delightful way to munch on seaweed.
